FRENVI GmbH
Efficient and Sustainable Production
Developing new GreenTech products in the laboratory is one thing – implementing their industrial scaling is quite another.
Sustainability is at the heart of FRENVI – our production expertise combines material and process knowledge and is based on the pillars of our research, technology, and high quality standards.
Our sustainable production enables us to manufacture environmentally friendly products efficiently and in a resource-saving manner.
Over several years, FRENVI’s engineers have applied their experience with injection molding and fiber forming technologies in a new context: a climate-friendly production approach in Mannheim that reduces the carbon footprint in Germany and is in line with the circular bioeconomy.
CTC3DF-Process
The result was Continuous Thermo Compression 3D Forming (CTC3DF), which was initially used to convert primary materials into environmentally friendly products, such as our edible tableware and cutlery from EATlery®.
This process exemplifies our sustainable production, as it uses resources efficiently and minimizes waste.
This led to the idea of also processing secondary materials using CTC3DF – currently the focus of our research activities.
The goal:
- High scalability
- Lowest production costs
- Promotion of a bio-based circular economy
Our unique selling point is our ability to process even highly moist residues directly – with other processes, these would first have to be dried in an energy-intensive process.
The positive side effects:
🌱 Low carbon footprint
🌎 Excellent environmental balance
💧 Conservation of natural resources

Industrial scaling & sustainable production facilities
In the Indian metropolis of Bangalore, we set up our first CTC3DF production facility during the COVID-19 pandemic and successfully commissioned it in 2022. This facility is a milestone in our sustainable production and enables us to supply the Asian market with environmentally friendly products.
The technical implementation of other product forms such as cups, plates, and bowls has also long been a reality – with annual production capacities in the low nine-digit range.
By early 2026, our second production facility will be built in Mannheim with a fully automated CTC3DF production line. From then on, the European market will be supplied primarily with bio-based products – edible, naturally compostable, and directly from Germany.
➡️ Planned annual capacity in Germany: over 500 million units!
With each additional location, we are expanding our commitment to sustainable production – regional, efficient, and scalable.
EATlery® – Edible cutlery as an alternative to plastic cutlery
With its EATlery® product line, FRENVI offers a delicious and functional zero-waste alternative to traditional disposable cutlery. The edible cutlery is made from purely natural ingredients such as grains or legumes in our Purpose Bakery in Germany. It is tasty, sturdy, and can be easily consumed or disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner after use. The products are not only sustainable, but also food-safe and heat-resistant – ideal for use at events, in catering, or in the food service industry.
Thanks to our specially developed CTC3DF technology, we can efficiently produce edible cutlery in various shapes, flavors, and sizes in large quantities. This means that EATlery® not only contributes to environmental protection, but also proves that circular economy and practical use do not have to be mutually exclusive.
COMPOSTware – Compostable disposable tableware reimagined
Under the COMPOSTware brand, FRENVI develops biodegradable disposable tableware made from natural residues such as rice bran or agricultural waste. The products are free of plastics, certified compostable, and virtually indistinguishable from conventional tableware in terms of shape and feel. After use, they decompose completely – either in industrial composting plants or in suitable home composting systems.
Within a few weeks, a plate or bowl is transformed back into valuable soil – in line with the principles of a true circular economy. These products support a genuine circular economy based on the cradle-to-cradle principle and avoid unnecessary waste right from the design stage
REuse – Reusable with a system
With REuse, FRENVI offers a smart concept for modern reusable catering. The reusable cups and bowls are robust, dishwasher-safe, stylishly designed, and built to withstand high volumes of everyday use. The well-thought-out return and cleaning system can be seamlessly integrated into existing processes – from cafés and canteens to events and catering.
REuse not only helps businesses comply with legal requirements for reusable packaging, but also offers a practical and resource-saving solution for switching to sustainable packaging. This means that every use contributes to reducing single-use plastic.
Conclusion: None of these developments would be possible without our consistently sustainable production—it is the key to realizing our product visions.
Research
Through more than four years of intensive research, FRENVI has developed a mass production process that has already been patented in several regions.
Technology
Our production technology relies on state-of-the-art automation and robotics solutions to make the manufacturing process particularly resource-efficient.
Quality
We manufacture our EATlery® products under the strictest hygiene and safety standards – certified according to FSSC 22000, FSSAI, FDA (IFS in planning)
Certifications
Our production facilities are certified according to the international “Global Food Safety Standards” (FSSC 22000) and also meet the requirements of HACCP and FDA. IFS certification is also in preparation.
